RESPECTFUL WORKPLACE POLICY

Lunenburg Doc Fest (LDF) is committed to creating a safe, welcoming, respectful and inclusive environment for all people regardless of age, ancestry, colour, race, citizenship, ethnic origin, creed, religion, disability, family status, marital status, gender identity, gender expression, sex, and sexual orientation.
Bullying, all forms of verbal and/or physical and sexual harassment and violence (hereinafter, referred to as a violation of “respect”) is strictly prohibited. This prohibition applies to all LDF participants and visitors including board members, staff, independent contractors, volunteers, partners, sponsors, film attendees, vendors, media, and other third parties.
To support the objective of providing all employees and contractors with a healthy safe workplace, it is required that managers, supervisors and workers take preventative action to ensure that risks to individual health and safety due to violations of respect are eliminated or reported.
Managers and employees are expected to uphold this policy and will be held accountable by the organization. Employees are encouraged to seek resolution of violations of respect and all accusations or reports of such violations will be investigated and if substantiated will be dealt with expeditiously. Investigations will be conducted with as much confidentially as can practicably be afforded.
Lunenburg Doc Fest will take reasonable precautions to prevent workplace harassment and violence and protect all employees and volunteers from threatening situations. Emergencies and unlawful activities should be reported to local law enforcement.
Definitions
Bullying: Bullying is interpersonal hostility that is deliberate, repeated and sufficiently severe as to harm the targeted person’s health, safety or economic status.
Harassment: Harassment occurs when a worker is subjected to unwelcome verbal or physical conduct based on race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin/identity, disability, citizenship, creed, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital status, family status, receipt of public assistance, record of offences, political affiliation, religion affiliation, language and/or socio-economic status.
Violence: Violence whether at a worksite or work-related means the threatened, attempted or actual conduct of a person that causes or is likely to cause physical injury. These acts include threats, menacing or threatening behaviour and all types of physical or verbal assaults.
