Lunenburg Doc Fest is here to entertain, educate, and inspire by showcasing the art of documentary filmmaking.

We create a cultural connection between audiences and artists in the beautiful town of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Lunenburg is a picture perfect coastal town with a long heritage. It is a UNESCO site rich with art and a history in boatbuilding and fishing.

The festival was established in 2013 to usher in new voices in storytelling while also celebrating established documentary filmmakers. Each September, Lunenburg Doc Fest brings together the audience and the artists … the industry and the sponsors … for a long weekend of groundbreaking full-length and short films.

You can expect an unforgettable, immersive experience when attending our gala screenings and community-driven events. Discover the best this year’s festival has to offer. There are diverse offerings, including free community events, so that the festival is accessible to everyone as well as filmmaker Q&As. You can get access to the inside stories and in-depth insight into the filmmaker’s work following select on-site film screenings.

We offer education through documentary filmmaking workshops for new and established storytellers.

We also host an annual conference and market for industry stakeholders hosted a range of professional development sessions including 1-to-1 meetings, On Deck round tables, workshops, spotlight conversations, and panels.   We offer mentoring and opportunities for pitching film concepts to industry decision makers.
