Bruce MacCormack
Chair
Bruce is focussed on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on news operations, with a particular emphasis on mitigating the threat of misinformation. He is a member of the Partnership on AI steering committee on AI and Media Integrity. He is also a co-lead of Project Origin; The BBC, New York Times, CBC/Radio-Canada and Microsoft media provenance initiative.
Bruce is a member of the technical working group of the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA). While at CBC/Radio-Canada, he was the Head of Business Strategy for Technology and the Executive Architect of the Enterprise Media Asset Management system. He has served as the President of digital media for the largest Canadian newspaper chain and as the President and COO of Manitoba Telecom Services’ Advanced Media division. He began his career in engineering, marketing, sales and global corporate strategy roles in the telecom equipment sector at Nortel. Bruce has been a member of the Young President’s Organization, a Past President of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and the Chair of The Atlantic International Film Festival. His background includes an MBA (York University – Toronto) and an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering (McGill – Montreal).

Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, Alan emigrated to South Africa where he lived for 18 years before emigrating to Canada in 1988. His progressive career of over 40 years included various senior management roles all within the hydraulic industry. In 2012, he was a graduate of Royal Roads University’s MBA Executive Management program. Alan retired in 2016, and together with his wife Celia, relocated to Lunenburg where both of their daughters and four grandchildren live. Since arrival in Lunenburg, he has pursued his passion for road cycling, establishing an informal group of road cyclists that he named the Cycling Friends of Lunenburg (CFL). During the winter months, Alan curls with the Lunenburg Curling Club.
In October of 2019, Alan was invited to join the Board of The Lunenburg Doc Fest Association in the capacity of its treasurer – a position he holds to this day. In 2022, Alan was appointed treasurer for the South Shore Hospice Palliative Care Society and is also treasurer for the Masters’ program of the Lunenburg Curling Club.

Debora has many years experience in management consulting and government affairs developing and deploying issue management and work processes in a corporate environment. She is semi-retired after 20 years in the oil and gas industry and is currently an associate of the London-based consulting firm Plexus Energy. Her volunteer Board work includes the Kingsburg Community Association. Debora lives in Kingsburg.

Richard is a retired real estate senior executive, working for 30 years in the shopping center industry throughout the United States, Brazil and Russia. The last 20 years of his career he served in senior management roles in U.S. based, publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trusts. He grew up in Canada, graduated from Carleton University in 1973 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1975, working for 6 years in public accounting for Clarkson, Gordon and Coopers & Lybrand in Canada and Australia. Married to Deborah Kennedy-Brown for 51 years, they raised their 3 children in the U.S., living in a variety of cities throughout the eastern half of the country. They now spend their time in Naples, Florida. Richard was the President for 3 years and Board Member for 7 years for the Kingsburg Community Association and volunteers on various community-based associations.

John McLennan

John McLennan, a native Cape Bretoner, grew up in various Canadian and European locations due to his family's military background. He earned a BSc and MSc from Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY, kickstarting his career in the technology and telecom industry.
He held several prominent leadership roles, including EVP at Mitel Corp in Ottawa, CEO of Rogers Wireless during its industry launch, and founder of Jenmark Consulting. Later, he became CEO of Bell Canada and Allstream, and also served as Chair of Emera Board and on various corporate boards. In 1995, he became the First Chancellor of Cape Breton University, a position he held until 2005. After a successful career, he happily retired on Nova Scotia’s South Shore in 2000. John McLennan’s legacy lies in his visionary contributions that shaped the telecom landscape and his commitment to education in his beloved Cape Breton.

Allan is a Clinical Professor of Neurology and Pediatrics at NYU Medical Center. He has spent summers in the Lunenburg area for the past 16 years. He is the retired Vice-Chairman of the Cooper Companies, a Fortune 500 company, and currently sits on the Boards of 3 medical technology companies and 3 non-for-profits, including the Children’s Tumor Foundation, which he founded, and Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, his alma mater.

His screen experience encompasses CBC news, comedy (This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Talking To Americans) and variety (The East Coast Music Awards, The Ha!ifax Comedy Fest). Geoff’s work also includes multiple documentaries for CBC (Land and Sea, Doc Zone, First Hand, The Nature of Things), many of which have been screened internationally. Geoff’s documentary Bounty: Into The Hurricane was the very first film screened at the inaugural edition of The Lunenburg Doc Festival in 2014. Geoff’s assignments have taken him to shoots literally all over the world. He now happily divides his time between Halifax and Lunenburg, and enjoys messing around in boats.

Alex Duckworth is a retired Olympic snowboarder, Canadian Champion, and now producer based in Kingsburg, Nova Scotia. Since throwing in the towel as an athlete, she’s kept herself busy creating lifestyle + comedy content for brands the CBC, MUCH, Billabong, McDonalds, Lays, Mazda. Her passion for film dates all the way back to the mid-nineties, (read: Clueless, for the millennials out there), but she really got to know the craft during the making of her documentary Fishing For Snow – a film about the improbable history of Snowboarding in Nova Scotia.
She is currently spending her days working remotely as a Global Casting Manager on lululemon’s Brand + Creative team. You can find her surfing, rollerblading, road cycling and finishing her tiny home build.

Meghan is an international trade lawyer at Canada’s foreign ministry in Ottawa, where she moved to complete her law degree after studying at Dalhousie. In her day-to-day work Meghan advises Canadian trade negotiators on market access and related issues, including intellectual property, government procurement, and regulatory development, and represents Canada in state-to-state trade litigation.
Meghan is currently the President of the Board of Directors of the Ottawa New Edinburgh Club (one of the oldest multi-sport clubs in the country), has sat on advisory committees for the National Capital Commission and the National Gallery of Canada, and has volunteered with the Atlantic International Film Festival. Born in Halifax, she grew up sailing and swimming on the south shore. Meghan now splits her time between Ottawa and Lunenburg, where she is fixing up her house in the Old Town and devouring all the Nova Scotian and nautical folklore she can get her hands on.
