STEP INTO THE STORY:  INTERACTIVE ARCADE

Lunenburg Doc Fest will offer the festival’s first-ever Interactive Arcade where you can ‘Step Into The Story’. This hands-on initiative spotlights an exciting midway of attractions from fact-based virtual reality to animation installation loops, a range of immersive experiences brings stories to life!

Lunenburg Doc Fest acknowledges the support of the Province of Nova Scotia’s Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage in presenting the Step Into the Story: Interactive Arcade.


LUNENBURG: WHERE THE LAND MEETS THE SEA *WORLD PREMIERE*

Lunenburg: Where The Land Meets The Sea is a documentary that explores the daily lives of residents from a variety of backgrounds but who share a connection to the ocean, the land, and the town, and are maintaining traditions for the next generation.

“STILL MOVING” ARTIST TALK BY LIVES WELL LIVED DIRECTOR SKY BERGMAN

LIVES WELL LIVED Director Sky Bergman’s Artist talk STILL MOVING: The transition from still photography to the moving image in the digital age will focus on her journey to filmmaking as a photographer. Bergman is currently a Professor of Photography and Video at Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, CA.

Lunenburg Doc Fest is pleased to acknowledge the support of Lunenburg Foundation for the Arts and Nova Scotia Health Authority in presenting this free artist talk and Sky Bergman’s participation at Lunenburg Doc Fest.

SENIORS’ WORKSHOP SHOWCASE

SUN, SEPT 24, 10 – 11:15AM

Lunenburg Doc Fest presents a showcase of its Documentary Workshop for seniors. Seniors 55 and up participated in a free workshop in which they created a feature-length documentary about Lunenburg.

Wave Upon Wave: A Lunenburg Hodge Podge

To visitors, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, rich in colourful architecture, quaint shops and tall ships.  But what don’t the tourists know?  This documentary reveals the untold story of a complex community, forever caught between cultures and time, shaped by the Atlantic Ocean and the waves of peoples who have come to Lunenburg in search of a better life.

David Friendly, Fern Jordan, Will Hallam, Teresa Quilty, Donna Foulkes, Dorothy Greenridge, and Rick Wilcosh who were mentored and guided by Documentary masters Yvonne Mosley and Dawn-Hardwood Jones.

YOUTH WORKSHOP SHOWCASE

SUN, SEPT 24, 11:30AM – 12:30PM

Lunenburg Doc Fest presents a showcase of the 3rd annual Youth Program featuring short films from the free Documentary Workshop and a $1000 School Bursary.

Teens 13-18 participated in a free workshop in which they created short animated documentaries around the theme Animated Lunenburg Harbour Stories- focusing on boats, fishing and stories of the sea. The teens worked in small groups and were introduced to various story-making, film and animation techniques.

A selection of family-friendly short films will screen after the showcase.

Lunenburg Doc Fest recognizes the support of West Nova Fuels and the Province of Nova Scotia’s Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage in presenting
the 2017 LDF Youth Workshop.
