Festival goers on a sailing boat in Lunenburg

While “Doc Fest” is in our name, the events we host range far beyond our week-long flagship festival in September celebrating documentary filmmakers in Canada and across the world

Our goal is to provide a gathering place for film lovers, industry and sponsors to share their passion, learn from each other and discover incredible new documentary films.

Throughout the year, we host local screenings – events that bring the community together over the love of documentary films. Find out about the latest community event HERE.

If you’re interested in a more hands-on approach, we also offer educational opportunities in the form of workshops designed for youth and seniors

You can work with a professional mentor to expand your knowledge of film and improve your technical abilities.  Find out more about what you can learn and when HERE. Through a combination of in-person and online sessions, you can work alongside lauded documentary filmmakers to get comfortable behind the camera and learn filmmaking techniques to better understand how you can tell the story you want to put out into the world through the medium of film.

Already a member of the film industry? You may be interested in taking part in The Dock Market

This is Atlantic Canada’s only documentary forum – something we’re proud to host annually right here in the town of Lunenburg. If you attend, you can expect workshops, panels, 1-to-1 meetings, an industry cruise and a reception – the perfect opportunity for networking with like-minded individuals. To find out more, you can see the full schedule and description of The Dock Market HERE.

As for the festival itself, you can find out about our glitzy gala HERE and peruse this year’s program guide HERE.

Should you have any questions about this year’s events, feel free to get in touch with us. We hope to see you at the fest!
