Lunenburg Doc Fest is proud to host the *Canadian Premiere* of REQUIEM FOR THE AMERICAN DREAM, a riveting film exposing – with searing clarity – the forces and policies behind the coordinated campaign to concentrate wealth and power in the hands of a select few.

In his final long-form documentary interview, Noam Chomsky articulates ten fundamental principles that perpetuate this vicious cycle. Professor Chomsky provides penetrating insight into the demise of democracy and erosion of opportunity that are likely to be the lasting hallmarks of our time.

Engaging the power of community is a primary theme within REQUIEM and The Festival trusts that our film enthusiast community will find the film compelling — REQUIEM FOR THE AMERICAN DREAM is a film nobody interested in a defining issue of our era can afford to ignore.

A global phenomenon – both revered and reviled – Chomsky has authored over 100 books and is the 7th most cited person in history, behind the likes of Shakespeare, Aristotle, Marx and Plato.

Noam Chomsky has tirelessly explored the powerful forces that dictate policy decisions in the United States his entire career and, in doing so, has influenced and inspired generations of thinkers, politicians, academics, activists, students, and organizers alike.

Today, with America owning the dubious distinction of the highest level of income inequality among advanced countries – and as recent examples of civil unrest ignited by incidents in Staten Island, Missouri and Wisconsin have borne out – his words ring as eerily prescient.

Lunenburg Doc Fest is pleased to welcome REQUIEM’s attending Director/Producer, Kelly Nyks, to the second annual festival. Kelly will introduce REQUIEM FOR THE AMERICAN DREAM and participate in audience Q&As.

Kelly is an award-winning director of narrative and documentary films and a partner at PF Pictures.

He most recently directed and produced DISRUPTION – the story of the greatest crisis mankind has ever faced and the movement rising to fight it (all platform distribution). Kelly also directed and produced DO THE MATH – chronicling America’s preeminent environmentalist Bill McKibben in a David vs. Goliath battle to fight the fossil fuel industry and change the terrifying math of the climate crisis (Al-Jazeera America).

Kelly wrote, directed and produced SPLIT: A DEEPER DIVIDE – a non-partisan investigation of the US political divide, hailed by Variety as a ‘solid, evenhanded spur for discussion’ and ‘a Must See’ by The Examiner (The Documentary Channel).
