IN-PERSON | Since joining AMI-tv in 2012, Cara has moved from overseeing the channel’s internal productions to her current role as Director of Content Development and Production. She is now responsible for all of AMI’s current original content including Mind Your Own Business, Dish With Mary and returning series’ By Hook or By Cook and Breaking Character.  Cara is responsible for screening pitches, show development, and ensuring that all content meets AMI’s standard bearing qualities with respect to disability storytelling and inclusivity in all areas of original production – both on camera and behind the scenes.

Cara and her team at AMI are dedicated to creating accessible content for all Canadians. Through a production process called Integrated Described Video (IDV), AMI embeds audio description directly into the programs they produce, providing a seamless and inclusive experience for the blind or partially sighted viewer. Applying the IDV method in production ensures that the integrity of the program, as envisioned by the producers, is not altered in a post-production environment, but included in all stages: pre-production, production and post.

IN-PERSON | Linda Wood is Manager, Film Fund at the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage. In her role, Linda supports clients in the Film & Television sector, managing the province’s Film and Television Production Incentive Fund. Linda has over two decades experience in government working in the film sector. She holds a JD from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University, and an MA in English Language and Literature from the University of Guelph.

Liz Cowie

Producer for the Quebec and Atlantic Studio, National Film Board

IN-PERSON | Born and raised in Halifax, N.S, Liz Cowie is a graduate of NSCAD University, where she completed her BFA in Media Arts, focusing on Film, Video, and Photography.  Following her graduation, Liz moved to Toronto to pursue a career in photography, working as a photo assistant to numerous fashion photographers, as well as pursuing her own work, which has been featured in a variety of publications including Spin Magazine, Walrus Magazine, and Vice Magazine.   After a few years in Toronto, Liz relocated to New York where she worked with Vice Media for over 15yrs.  Here she worked closely with Vice founders Suroosh Alvi and Shane Smith, along with Director Spike Jonze and DP Lance Bangs (Jackass, Portlandia), as well as great number of on-camera (and off-camera) talent and personalities.    Through out her time at Vice, Liz had overseen production on various television and digital documentary series, music videos, advertising campaigns, commercials, and larger, feature length projects.  She also helped to create and produce digital spots and featured segments for the series VICEonHBO and the nightly HBO series, Vice News Tonight.  Prior to leaving Vice Media in 2022, to pursue some freelance projects, Liz held the position of Senior Manager of Development & Alternative Programming at Vice TV.  During her time in this role, she developed and oversaw a variety of original series for the network such as The Devil You Know, Betraying the BadgeDevoured, and the Emmy-nominated series, Fringe Nation, which she and fellow Canadian reporter Ben Makuch together created and helped produce.  Most recently Liz has jointed the National Film Board’s Halifax office as the Producer for the Quebec and Atlantic Studio.

Her art writing has been featured in Canadian Art, Peripheral Review, and Movement Research Performance Journal. Megan is currently based in Kjipuktuk/Halifax.

Nic is part of the Indigenous team leading the work on CBC/Radio-Canada's National Indigenous Strategy. A member of Woodstock First Nation in Wolastokuk (New Brunswick) and a proud Cape Bretoner, he currently lives and works in Kjipuktuk (Halifax, Nova Scotia).

Nic previously worked as a reporter and video producer with CBC Nova Scotia and CBC Indigenous, covering the Atlantic region. His work has taken him to Indigenous territories across the country for the production and development of digital video features and television documentaries, both long and short form, as well as syndicated, local and national broadcast news content.

His films include documentaries on Margaret Atwood, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Robbie Robertson, Roméo Dallaire, Glenn Gould, Tom Thomson and Lawren Harris. Raymont also executive produced the popular TV drama series The Border and Cracked.
