2014-youth-workshop-festival-partner

Lunenburg Doc Fest thanks Lighthouse Media Group and Tim Reeves-Horton, who heads up Lighthouse Media Group’s video production department and works in schools to promote media literacy, for partnering with The Festival to offer a Youth Documentary Workshop.

The documentary workshop launches today with a free tour of the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic where ten workshop participants will have a chance to brainstorm and find inspiration for their stories. Next week, September 13th and 14th, they will work together to film and edit their documentaries.

LDF’s Youth Workshop introduces the arts of filmmaking and true-life storytelling to young people ages 11 to 18 and provides a historically and culturally-rich venue for developing their stories, an experienced mentorship team, plus a showcase of their final product.

The young filmmakers are invited to share their work with peers, the public, and professional filmmakers by way of a premiere screening at Lunenburg Doc Fest, 2:00pm, Sunday, September 21st at The Pearl Theatre.

By introducing young people to filmmaking, the LDF Youth Program endeavours to provide youth with new mediums to express creativity and develop storytelling talents that will enhance their experience and communication skills as well as the entire arts community.
