short films — filmmakers’ panel — awards — reception

The short films that make up the From the Edge of the Atlantic program are somehow inspired by or linked to the Atlantic.

The Atlantic Ocean pounds at our coast, unrelenting, pulsing, fierce. It pulls at the soil and rocks that support us, engulfing us into its depths, inch by inch, foot by foot, leaving us with less to stand on, yet, at times the Atlantic cajoles us, laps upon our shores, beckoning us to enter the cool rhythm, the depth…

We live in a land surrounded by the Atlantic and cannot deny its force — some of us fight the current, others flow with it, we all explore it. Each of the filmmakers chosen for the program explores in some way this effect, this rhythm, this aqua elemental influence, whether harsh and violent or serene and rousing.
