Lunenburg Doc Fest congratulates local filmmaker and Lunenburg Doc Fest Advisor, P.J. Naworynski, on his 2014 Canadian Screen Awards nomination for Best Direction in a Documentary Series category for “Air Aces: Red Tails” (History Channel Canada).

P.J.’s Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television distinction follows an impressive list of nominations and awards won, including a Gemini in 2011 for Best Director in a Documentary Series for “Nazi Hunters” (National Geographic International, History Television Canada).

With over 20 years of experience, P.J.’s career and diverse skill set cross genres, platforms, and the globe. He is just as comfortable with a backpack and a couple DSLRs in the high arctic shooting a Defence Research Board clean up project as he is directing a CGI intense big budget, docu-drama like “Air Aces: Red Tails”.

Fellow filmmaker Jeremy Llewellyn-Jones, who worked with P.J. on Air Aces, states: “Forensic attention to detail and a desire to tell a good story with stunning visuals are his hallmark.”

That work ethic and approach correspond with P.J.’s extensive list of broadcasters and collaborators, including History Channel (US), History Television (Canada), The Discovery Channel (US, Canada, and International), Parks Canada, Parcs Canada, The Canadian Space Agency, Channel Four (UK), Channel Five (UK), National Geographic (US and International), Oasis HD, Travel Alberta, Defence Research Board, Canal + (France), Investigation Discovery (US), Military Channel (US), Animal Planet (US), Canal D (Quebec), and Global Television (Canada).

P.J. is also the creative mind behind Hyperfocal Films, a Gemini Award-winning production company specializing in docudrama, history and nature documentaries. Hyperfocal Films has offices in Toronto, Ontario, and Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. Learn more at www.hyperfocalfilms.com.

Currently, P.J. is at the helm as Writer-Director of “Santa Quest”, a holiday comedy feature documentary produced by Halifax’s Tell Tale Productions. “Santa Quest” stars local actor John Dunsworth, best known as Jim Lahey from “Trailer Park Boys” and Dave Teagues on SyFy’s “Haven”. It is slated for a Christmas 2014 release.

Lunenburg Doc Fest is proud to celebrate P.J.’s recent distinction and include him as Festival Advisor. Our Advisors are essential to enhancing the festival experience for audiences, filmmakers and festival volunteers alike. We value our Advisors and their efforts in helping to make Lunenburg Doc Fest a success.

Please join us in congratulating P.J. Naworynski on his Canadian Screen Awards nomination and in welcoming him as Festival Advisor by sharing and “Liking” this post on Facebook.
