APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED

The following information is required to apply:

Four emerging BIPOC producers from the Atlantic provinces will be selected to participate in this development program with participation in Lunenburg Doc Fest’s The Dock Market and Hot Docs.

To qualify applicants must:

  • Live in Atlantic Canada and have been a resident for at least one year from date of application
  • Identify as Black, Indigenous or Person of Colour
  • Have demonstrated a strong interest in storytelling and/or filmmaking
  • Be available to attend the three-week online DOC Atlantic Breakthrough Program workshop series and mentorship program, LDF’s Dock Market (September 21-24, 2023), and Hot Docs (May, 2024)
  • Prepare your documentary and pitch to industry decision-makers at two festival markets.
  • Apply with a documentary project in progress (at any stage of development)

Timeline:

  • June 27 – Applications open
  • July 17 – Applications close
  • July 26 – Program workshop series commences
  • July through August – workshops series, pitch consulting, practice pitch, and mentorship
  • September 21 through 27 – 10th Lunenburg Doc Fest 2023
  • late April 2024 – final mentors and mentee session
  • early May 2024 – Hot Docs festival and Forum in Toronto

Filmmakers who have produced or directed at least one feature or two short films that have been broadcast or premiered at a film festival are not eligible.
