Filmmaker to Filmmaker

For Emerging Filmmakers

SUNDAY, September 23
9 – 11am
Lunenburg Arms Hotel, Board Room

Filmmaker to Filmmaker is a new opportunity for emerging artists.  Emerging filmmakers have the opportunity to participate in a casual and informative round table with a guest feature documentarian attending Lunenburg Doc Fest with their film.  Attendees benefit from exclusive access with an esteemed guest, and are encouraged to ask specific questions about the creative and business aspects of documentary making.

FEATURED DOCUMENTARIANS:

Millefiore Clarkes, Director
THE SONG AND THE SORROW

Millefiore Clarkes is an award-winning filmmaker and documentarian from Prince Edward Island, Canada. She is passionate about using film to capture the moments in which people reveal themselves and their interconnectedness with others. Clarkes’ feature-length documentary Stalking Love (2005) aired on CBC’s documentary channel from 2006 to 2009 and played at film festivals across North America. Clarkes applies her skills as a DP and an editor to her own films and also works with others in the Atlantic Canadian film community. She actively advocates for a vibrant film culture in PEI by participating in and serving on the boards of organizations such as WIFT and the Island Media Arts Co-op, where she was executive director from 2005 to 2008. Clarkes is currently on the board of directors for the Documentary Organization of Canada’s Atlantic regional chapter.

Billie Mintz, Director/Writer/Producer
THE GUARDIANS

Billie’s life is a series of wild tales that are mostly true. An award-winning documentary filmmaker, he is a certified Reiki healer, an ordained minister of deliverance, and trained in shamanism by an old Incan medicine man from Peru. Serving two seasons as National Geographic’s correspondent and director for the show Explorer, featured on John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight, and the first civilian to screen his film and debrief the FBI on an issue they knew little about, Billie is a long-time advocate for social justice and believes in the power of story to raise consciousness and inspire policy change.
